Baguio City is the first in the Philippines to welcome inDrive’s regional electric vehicle (EV) fleet, marking a big step toward sustainable transport. In partnership with Device Design Green And Smart (DDGNS) Corporation and Transrev Documentation and Transport Services, the initiative will roll out 100 EVs on Baguio’s roads starting September 15, 2025, with plans to grow the fleet to 1,000 by 2026 as more transport operators shift to electric mobility—introducing a cleaner, greener way to move around the city.
The launch comes at a time when Baguio’s tourism is bouncing back strong after the pandemic. In 2024, the Department of Tourism – Cordillera reported a 19.08% jump in visitor arrivals—making the push for sustainable and reliable transportation more important than ever, both for locals and for tourists exploring the city.
“During the past year of operating in the Philippines, we saw the growing demand among passengers and drivers for more environmentally friendly transport options,” said Vanessa Taqueban, inDrive Philippines Driver Operations Lead.
She added, “We’re confident that our collaboration with DDGNS and Transrev marks the beginning of a more equitable and eco-friendly public transport system in Baguio and beyond.”
This rollout aligns with Baguio City’s long-term sustainability roadmap, which targets net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Electric vehicles play a key role in this shift, producing just 50 g/km of carbon dioxide—far lower than the 165 g/km from petrol cars and 170 g/km from diesel vehicles.
For inDrive’s partner drivers, the shift to electric vehicles means more than just new wheels—it’s a chance to earn better while spending less. With lower maintenance costs, reduced fuel expenses, and greater efficiency, EVs help drivers bring home more income while also taking part in keeping Baguio’s air cleaner. For commuters, the benefits are just as real. EVs offer smoother, quieter rides with features like regenerative braking, responsive steering, and advanced suspension systems—making every trip more comfortable while supporting the shared vision to Breathe Baguio.
